We have pulled together the questions our crew always ask and put them down below for you to help you get across, what, and how we do things!

How is the program delivered?

The coaching program we deliver is online, and through our custom Fit For Life App. We also use zoom calls, emails, phone calls etc to check in and keep across how you're going! To kick things off, we'll typically book in your onboarding call and get some extra background off you to help us build out a Hyrox and Run training plan tailored to you that includes strength workouts, Hyrox specific workouts and run workouts.

From there we'll set up your weekly training routine then drop you weeks 1 and 2 of your plan to get you started!

Like we said above, your Hyrox programming will be delivered through our Fit For Life App and run programming can be delivered straight to your watch via Final Surge!

Do I need special equipment?

We'd prefer and recommend you have access to all the race day equipment like the Ski, Rower, Sleds etc. to get the most out of your training with us.

But to answer your question, nope we believe in training the movement, not just the machine.

Our program includes options for both gym and home workouts. Like we said, having the Hyrox specific equipment is ideal in a perfect world, but if not we'll give you alternatives (with a full guide and video demonstrations) to help you train perfectly for race day if you have limited equipment.

Just know best results will come with access to the race day equipment!

Is this okay for Hyrox newbies?

Yes! We LOVE working with people new to Hyrox. We build the coaching programs around YOU and we design things so that they are meeting you where you're at before helping you build and develop into race day.

If you're going the DIY route, the Starter Plan is designed to help you go at your pace and the beauty of Run, Strength and Hyrox training is that if you're strong, go harder and push more reps out, or more distance, where as if you're coming back to training or trying it out for the first time keep things nice and steady while you ease in.

The best bit is both programs progressively build your fitness and technique from week 1 to the finish line.

I've worked with an online coach before and it didn't work so why is this different?

Probably because it wasn't actually coaching or it was a fresh inexperienced coach who was taking their workouts from Instagram... We run a gym, we’ve trained thousands of people in person and see hundreds of people through our studio each week.

 

If we’re being honest, that’s coaching experience you just can’t fake.

 

A lot of ‘online coaching’ is a generic program emailed to you with a check-in once a fortnight if you're lucky.

 

We're in your corner every week, adjusting your program, answering your questions, and making sure you're actually progressing and not just training for the sake of it.             

How much time will I need to commit each week?

The program requires at least 3 but up to 4-5 training sessions weekly, each lasting 45 - 60 minutes. We'll give you scheduling options depending on how you life to train - we'll cover this off with you on our first catchup to help us build your program.

What equipment do I need

At a minimum you'll need access to dumbbells, kettlebells, and some resistance bands.

Like we said above, ideally, you'll have access to a gym with a sled, wall balls, and cardio machines. But if you don't have access to everything don't stress. We provide alternatives for nearly every exercise that can be done with minimal equipment.

I'm worried about a particular station (like the sled push). Will this help?

That's exactly why we created this program! Each Hyrox station receives dedicated training focus, with extra time and effort spent on the main challenges like the sled push, wall balls, and sled pull. We'll turn those fears into your strengths and help you build confidence on the way through.

What if I'm not fit enough yet?

If you can jog through 10 minutes and have the ability to do a lunge and a squat, you're ready to work towards your first Hyrox. We've had mums of two and busy business owning dads complete our program and finish race day hitting their goal times and even hitting the podium!

If you're diving into coaching with us, we assess your fitness level and build a program that builds you up progressively.

Is there a refund policy?

Yes! We offer a 14-day satisfaction guarantee. If you're not completely confident in the program after two weeks, simply let us know for a full refund. But, we're that certain you'll love it.

What type of results have your crew got after working with you?

Results vary by fitness level and experience, but across our programs, first-timers typically finish between 1:10 - 1:40.

As recently as Melbourne Hyrox 2025 we had times from 1:05 to 1:50, with a big bunch in the 1:20 to 1:30 range.

But times aside, we (above all) make sure all our crew get to their Hyrox race day feeling prepared and confident!

How long is the program and what happens when it ends?

Depending on when you’re looking to jump into coaching we start at a 12-week coaching program.

By the end of your 12 week program you'll have a completely different level of fitness, a race plan, and the knowledge to keep building.

Most of our athletes re-sign because the momentum is addictive - but there's no lock-in. If you want to keep going, we'll map out your next block. If you're set, you'll walk away with everything you need.

Do I get a running program as well or is it just gym-based?

You get both! Jono is our qualified in studio and online run coach and Loz is our PT and Hybrid Coach.

Your program covers running, strength, station-specific work, and how to transition between them without falling apart. So you get the full picture.

How personalised is it?

We look at your current fitness, your race goals, how many days you can train, and where your weaknesses are. Two athletes might both be training for the same Hyrox event and have different programs based off their needs!

What does a typical training week look like?

It depends on your schedule but for most athletes it's 4 - 5 sessions across the week. A mix of running sessions, strength and station-specific work, and usually one longer hybrid session that mimics race day demands.

We know you’re busy so every session has a clear purpose and nothing is filler.

How often do I check in with my coach?

Weekly check-ins as standard via our app and fortnightly calls with your coach. We review how your week went, how your body's feeling, what's working and what needs adjusting.  Your program isn't set and forget, it evolves with you.

What if I need to miss a week due to travel, work, or life?

Life happens. If you've got a big work week, kids are sick, or you're travelling - just let us know and we'll adjust.

We can scale sessions back, swap things around, or give you travel-friendly workouts. The program keeps going as normal but is adjusted to fit your life, not the other way around.

Do I get direct access to my coaches or is it all automated?

Direct access. You can message us, ask questions, send videos of your lifts for feedback, or just check in when something doesn't feel right.

This isn't a chatbot, ai based or another one of those generic apps they sell you as being better than a real human, it's actual coaching from real people who care about how you go!

Can I message you outside of check-ins if something comes up?

Yep. We're not going to leave you hanging until your next scheduled check-in. If something comes up mid-week like a niggle, a question about a session, or you just need to adjust the plan, reach out and we'll sort it out as quickly as we can.

I don't have a Hyrox event booked yet, should I still sign up?

Absolutely. Some of our athletes come in without a race locked in and we help them pick the right event and timeline. Starting your training before you've booked actually takes the pressure off and means you're not scrambling to get ready last minute.

Can you help me choose which Hyrox event to target?

For sure. We'll look at where you're at right now, how much lead time you need, and which events fit your calendar. Whether it's a local Hyrox, interstate or international like a couple of our crew, we'll make sure you've got enough runway to be properly prepared.

Will this help me with Hyrox Doubles as well?

Yep. Doubles has its own demands like pacing with a partner, splitting stations, and playing to each other's strengths.

If you're training for Doubles we'll factor all of that in so you and your partner aren't just fit enough but actually racing smart together.

How far out from race day should I start?

Like we touched on above, ideally 12 weeks minimum. That gives us enough time to build your engine, sharpen your weaknesses, and peak you properly for race day.

If you've got less time we can still make it work - but the more runway, the better the result.

How is this different from just following a Hyrox program off the internet?

A free program doesn't know you. It doesn't know your weaknesses, your schedule, your injury history, or what station is going to bury you on race day.

We build everything around YOU and adjust it every week based on how you're responding. That's the difference between following a plan and being coached.

Can I do this alongside my current gym or running club?

Yep, we can work around it. If you've got a running group you love or gym sessions you don't want to drop, we'll factor that into your programming so everything works together instead of competing against each other.

Hey there! We're Loz and Jono - and we'll be your Hyrox coaching team .

We'll be your online coaches but this isn't oaur first rodeo... we run buzzing Fit For Life Health & Fitness a premier Fitness Studio in Upper Ferntree Gully, Victoria.

Between us we've got over 15 years of coaching experience and a training philosophy we call Hybrid X - because Hyrox demands two things most people struggle to combine: strength and endurance.
